Idag var det äntligen dags för årets första Kvällskör hos Mälarhöjdens Kanotsällskap. På fjärden Fjåset i Mälaren. 47 taggade seglare morsade glatt på varann ute vid startlinjen. Det var spänning i luften och alla såg fokuserade ut. Första start resulterade i allmän återkallelse. Jag vet inte riktigt vad som hände men tyckte mig höra ljudet av en mindre kollision kring startbåten som skyddar haren. Förmodligen övertändning. Andra startförsöket gick bättre även om vi som hade förmånen att starta tidigt bakom haren, dvs långt i lä, fick en klar fördel av ett tidigt vänstervrid. Denna tidiga klunga om kanske 20 båtar kunde slå över till babord och gå före alla styrbordsbåtar.
Väderprognosen varslade om växlande vindar på en sekundmeter. Väl ute på Fjåset blåste det relativt stabilt från syd-syd-ost och 2-4 sekundmeter. De som kom iväg i täten kunde segla ostört på skiften med en dragning åt högerkanten som kändes favoriserad. Framförallt på grund av vridande, och något starkare vind, runt en udde. Årets första spik togs av Rutger af Sandeberg. Grattis!
Mycket tack vare den gynnsamma starten blev det en bra premiär även för Team Hoffstedt där vi seglade in på tolfte plats av 47 startande. Det är slående hur mycket enklare seglingen upplevs när man får ett litet försprång i starten. Eller när man “poppar ut” som Jocke i MKS brukar uttrycka saken. Längre fram i fältet kan man segla ostört på skiften medan det längre bak ofta är svårt att ens få en uppfattning om skiften. Det blir till att träna starter och “ut-poppning” för att få uppleva den känslan oftare.
Efter seglingen bjöds det på bastu och korvgrillning. Komplett resultatlista hittar ni på MKS resultatsida. Tyvärr glömde jag GPS-klockan hemma så det blev ingen tracking men jag räknar med att komma igång med det till nästa onsdag. Nu har vi ytterligare 20 Kvällskör framför oss!
