För att motivera köp av kvalitetskläder brukar min kompis Fredde säga att ”det är bättre gråta en gång när man köper kläderna än varje gång man tar på sig dom”. Och Fredde brukar veta vad han snackar om.
I början av förra året fick jag i uppdrag av SeaPax att testa en Ursuit Gemino Operative för olika användningsområden. Efter vinter- och vårseglingar i Laser samt diverse kölbåtssegling till havs i både Sverige och Frankrike kan jag till slut göra ett välgrundat konstaterande. Dräkten är verkligen grym!
Inför min utvärdering har jag även pratat med Ulf Brändström som använder en likadan Ursuit Gemino Operative när han nu kvalar in till Mini Transat nere i Frankrike. Han är lika nöjd som jag och säger att många fransmän fått upp ögonen för Ursuit och sneglat avundsjukt på hans klädsel.
Att torka inuti dräkten
Jag är känd för att svettas mycket och den här dräkten andas som inget annat plagg jag provat. Efter ett svettigt pass på fördäck är mitt underställ sjöblött av svett. Men redan efter en kvart till rors har understället torkat betydligt. Ett fuktigt ylleunderställ torkas bäst på kroppen inuti en Ursuit. Imponerande, särskilt med tanke på att dräkten är absolut vattentät när man ligger i vattnet.
Lätt att växla
Det som gör dräkten riktigt unik är att Ursuit lyckats förena en separat jacka och byxa till en funktionell torrdräktshelhet. Det är möjligt tack vare den patenterade dräktkonstruktionen som kombinerar de två dräktdelarna med hjälp av en specialdragkedja och ZipLock låsmekanism. På båda låren finns rejält tilltagna, stänkskyddade, fickor. På jackfronten finns en stor stänkskyddad ficka och på ena armen en mindre ficka. Totalt finns det plats för såväl handhållen VHF som PLB, iPhone och annat smått och gott.
Komplettera med latexstrumpor
Även fötterna på dräkten andas naturligtvis. För att lättare glida ner i mina seglarstövlar kompletterar jag med ett par latexstrumpor utanpå fötterna. Förutom minskad friktion mot stövlarna hjälper dessa också till att föra bort eventuell luft som annars lätt hamnar i fötterna. Det gör det ännu lättare att komma i sina vanliga seglarstövlar.
Smidig
Jämfört med ett traditionellt offshoreställ känner jag mig betydligt smidigare i Ursuit. Särskilt om jag bara har ett tunt underställ under. Detta gör att dräkten fungerar bra även i en jolle. Enda nackdelen jag upplevt är att kragen är väldigt stor och tar bort lite av känslan för vinden. Den går givetvis att vika ner men för jollekappsegling är Ursuit Gemino Active ett alternativ som är värt att överväga. Även denna är tvådelad och borde fungera bra under havssegling.
Nackdelar
Finns det då några nackdelar med dräkten? I början när jag torrseglade i lägenheten tyckte jag kardborrebanden runt handleder och fotleder kändes väl långa men det är inget jag stört mig på under segling. Jämfört med ett traditionellt offshoreställ är byxorna aningen svårare att klä på på grund av fötterna. Man måste sitta ner vid påklädning i sjögång för att få till det bra. Men efter några gånger har man lärt sig tekniken.

Visst är dräkten dyr men jämfört med motsvarande offshoreställ är kostnaden inte särskilt mycket högre. Jag är väldigt nöjd och tycker absolut att detta är nästa generations seglarställ. Särskilt för seglare som seglar längre sträckor med få i besättningen och där kraven på klädsel är höga.
Låter bra! För oss som börjar närma oss “prostata-åldern” så är det intressant hur nr1 går att lösa. Hur fungerar det med den tvådelade Ursuiten? Måsta allt ner till knäna som med vanliga sjöstället?

Bra fråga :). Jag skulle säga att allt behöver ner till knäna för nr2. Vid nr1 är det dock snäppet enklare än på ett vanligt seglarställ då byxorna slutar i midjehöjd. Dessutom finns det en rejäl gylf.

Det låter som ett väldigt bra plagg. Jag kör med flytoverall och TPS survival suite, inget av dem är optimalt. TPS Survival Suite är bra om man badar men mycket blöt invändigt och kall, andas ej, på båten. Flytoverallen funkar bra vid dåligt väder och på natten men inte bra om man badar.
